These charts illustrate the significant increase in Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Mental Health Fund distributions by the state versus the number of clients reported to being served each year.

This chart illustrates the total Behavioral Health Services (BHS) annual MHSA revenues versus the number of unique clients reported to have been served.

For comparison, for the previous 6-years where data was published, from FY2016-17 through FY2021-22 MHSA revenues increased 30% (from $149m to $204m) while the number of clients served dropped by 8% (from 70k to 65k).

The current projected MHSA revenues ($393m for FY2023-24 represents a 106% increase from revenues received 6-years prior ($190m in FY2018-19).
